I'm watching "The Doctors" and they're in Haiti, in the field, working on injured people. They just showed a little baby girl who will have to have her right leg amputated due to her injuries. She was lying on the ground, crying in pain from her mangled leg. Oh my God, hearing her crying like that...

It is heart wrenching to see all this, it does bring to the front how luck some of us are to not live in areas prone to earthquakes, tornadoes, tsunamis, etc!

ETA: edited to add missing words! I don't type well when I'm sick!

You're right, some of the happenings over there in Haiti are heartbreaking. I thank God that he has blessed us with such ease when much of the world is suffering!

Robin it is the children that have lost entire families that is breaking my heart. Wandering around, with no one to look after them.

What do you think about Pat Robertson saying that Haiti brought in on themselves? Do you know the reason why he said that? Discuss.

Robin'sBrood :

Pat needs to learn how to keep his thoughts to himself. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Sage wisdom, right there. I agree 100%

The world can often be a sad place. All we can do is try to be the best people we can be and help others when we can. Trying to understand the positions taken by some only results in making my head and heart hurt.

Our Troops are in Haiti doing God's own work for now, but I don't know what the answer is down there long term. The UN and USAID have been in Haiti for decades, and the place is as big of a mess as it ever was, if not worse.

I did hear last week that large oil and natural gas reserves have been found off of Haiti, and if properly exploited could be part of the answer of rebuilding the country. But so much was devastated during the quake, including what little functioning Government there was, it is going to take decades to get them back to any reasonable resemblance of civilization. The best thing we can do for Haiti short term is get the UN out of there and get someone in charge who can actually accomplish something.

The danger is that our troops are being forced to make decisions that ought rightfully be made by Haitian authorities, but there are few Haitian authorities left...

Such a mess!
