So i am incubating eggs again, and i know the Little Giant model's thermometer isnt the most reliable so i have a digital one on the egg turner. Anyway, the incubator was all ready to go, 99.5 and 60 degree humidity. However, when i put the eggs in, 21 of them, the heat increased to 104 and the humidity dropped to 42. Should i compensate by decreasing heat setting on the thermomet and adding water.

My last attempt at incubation wasn't the greatest, so im trying to ensure they get a good start

sounds like the drop in humidity changed the temp, bringing it back up to 60% might be enough to bring down the temp. don't change it all at once or you'll have a hard time getting it back where you want it. If you get the humidity up and the temp is still high after half an hour then try to adjust the thermostat, normally I would say wait longer, but 104 is high.

On those incubators the temperature goes up until the eggs are the right temperature and then generally goes down once the eggs are warm enough. What are you incubating at 60% humidity? I did my peachicks at 60%, turkeys at 50% and chickens at 45%.
