Good morning, our chicks are now 4 weeks and love to be outside. We live in sunny Southern California. Can they safely move to the coop, and should we be turning off heat lamp at night now too? We have it off for most of day. Suggestions would be great! Here are a couple of pictures.
Transition them. If they can "take" living inside the house with no supplemental heat, for a couple of day, they'll be just fine outside. This time of year, with the weather becoming so very warm and mild, it isn't the heat very often. Sometimes, the transition is merely to the night time darkness to which they must become accustomed.
Unless your night time lows there in California are below 50F, they are quite likely ready and able to deal with the temps. Summer heat is much harder for them to deal with.
