Heat lamp

My chicken sat too close to the heat lamp and it singed her back feathers and a few of her head feathers. So I was wondering if anybody new what to do. The idea I had was to make a chicken saddle but I do not know how to make it in her size. She is about 8 weeks she is half Americana and half Rhode Island Reds. If you have any other suggestions feel free to share.

But..... you were heating them this hot? This close to them? Curious.

They usually do not sit to close to the heat lamp but I guess she we cold.

On the saddle, I'd just guess and cut out of a scrap of polarfleece, and do it again if needed. Sometimes I've enlarged the wing hole a little but usually it works the first time. Scroll way down in this BYC page and you will get the idea; no sewing needed. I only make the two holes for the wings.

And I'd move the heat lamp out of reach.
