Hi All,

I lost one of my Buff Orphington hens Daisy to the heat wave. I did everything that I could do for them
to help them make it through. Fan in the coop, ice in the water, pool and mister in the pen.

She died in the coop, I feel so bad, I did all that I could do for them. She had a good life,
all my ladies are pampered and get the best care and love. It just hurts since I tried so
hard to make it as easy as possible on them to handle the heat.

Thanks for listening, I know that I can always count on the other chicken loves on BYC.

Very sorry to hear about your loss.

It was 108 here today.

i'm sure sorry about you losing your daisy. i've been worried too. they're fine during the day, it's the coop @ night i'm having trouble with. i hope i don't out there in the morning to find a dead bird(s).
i wish i could figure out how to reconfigure my coop between summer & winter.

I'm sorry.

I lost 5 hens to heat really early this spring when we had a crazy record breaking heat wave in March (90's in March is completely unheard of in NH). It was awful. Hubby and I worked for 3 hours trying to save them. We managed to save only 3.

I worry about ours too i have to keep the coop pretty locked down at night due to raccoons but I want them to have good airflow also it's tough to balance the two.
