Heated waterer suggestions?

Starting to prep for winter here in Oregon, so I'm wondering if anyone has tips or ideas for heated waterers. Right now I have a plastic waterer, but I figured that would be sufficient for winter. I have the capabilities to plug in via weather proof extension cord if I have to. Aaaand go!

I am leaning towards the cookie tin method spoken often around here, with only 4 chickens much else is overkill. This link was provided to me by another member, nicely detailed with pictures.

Heated dog dish, with a one gallon, re-cycled ice cream bucket set into it. Works very well for us. Lots of different ways to get it done.

old crockpots st on lowest setting if you have the electricty for it. living in east texas you never know if it is gonna freeze one night or be 60 degrees the next night. i use the old crock pots , usually $1.00 or $2.00 at garage sales or goodwill, they work great keeps water ice free no need to worry aboout the outside spigot being frozen.
