So, the lady at the feed store said very confidently that she could pick out the buff orpingtons. I'm getting the feeling that may not be so. Help me out guys! Is there any way this is an orpington? If not, what is it?

definitely no, likely a New Hampshire or light colored Rhode Island/Production red. Does it have a single comb or a pea comb?

Too dark of feathers to be a Buff Orpington. I would say it is likely a New Hampshire Red or another red laying breed.
