Me and my boyfriend started out with 4 chicks back in March. Sadly we were not very chicken savvy so 3 didn't make it so we got our hands on books and did our research. We then purchased 6 Rhode Island Reds to keep "Harley" our Beautiful Barred Rock Rooster company, 2pullet RIR and 5cockrells (straight run, unlucky gamble). They thrived and grew and were quite the comical chatty chicks. We decided to increase our coop size and chicken quantity so we purchased 5 more chicks; a Sultan, Houdan, Cochin, and Swedish Flower Pullet and Cockrell. A few weeks into caring for the new babies Harley 3RIR adolescent rooster and a RIR hen went missing and the coop door was open with the remainder of chickens roaming the yard. We are working hard to fence in the back yard now to ensure this mysterious disappearing act doesn't occur again. I have a million questions and look forward to your advise. I have a 7 year old daughter and an 11 year old step son who I am so blessed to say have taken to "farming" rather than sitting in front of a TV or video game. Gardening, adding livestock, secrets and remedies for care of garden and animals, yep I want to know it all
thanks for taking the time to get to know me and I look forward to getting to know you and "pecking your bran" for helpful hints
