Sungrove Farmstead
Chirping
Hello
Not sure what all to say here so I'll answer some template questions
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Been around chickens (and many different farm animals) all my life and bought a house a few years ago to start a little "farmstead" as we call it of our own
We brought our two horses and three dogs here and started our flock of chickens a few years ago
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We currently have 18 hens and 1 rooster, resisting the urge to get new chicks this year, building a new coop to house more chickens and will probably add some more breeds next spring
(3) What breeds do you have?
Salmon Faverolle, Rhode Island Red, Cuckaroo Maran, Wyndotte, Sicilian Buttercup, Americauna, Plymouth Rock
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love animals in general and chickens are pretty low-cost and fun, plus they are so funny and I enjoy having a tiny egg "business" and learning all the things there is to know! I also really like that my small kids can learn and enjoy with me, when horses are kind of out of their league for caring for now they have learned a lot about animal care, life, building, etc. already from the chickens
