I only have 4 hens and a roster and I LOVE my hens but my roster has ben being mean to me he chasing me and jumping on me and scratches .I have 1 broody hen who is sitting on eggs maybe that's why he's mean.

Hi Lisa Pierce, very nice to meet you. Welcome to Backyard chickens. Your rooster is mean because that's how he is. He will just get worse in his attacks against you.

He needs to leave NOW. Never a good reason to keep a bad rooster. There are tons of good roosters looking for homes - that won't attack you.

Hi Liza, welcome to BYC!

I have read that traits like temperament can carry down to offspring. So, if you have a mean rooster, his male chicks can turn out that way also. Drumstick diva is right, if your rooster is attacking you, you need to get rid of him...partly so he doesn't seriously injure you.

I have Barred Plymouth Rocks in my mixed flock and they are wonderful girls. They are calm and a bit bashful of being handled but good layers and very pretty.
