Hi guys
Am a 47 year old guy living up in the beautiful KZN Midlands South Africa for the last 4 years.
like every city bumpkin that moves to the country, you just gotta have chickens.
Started off with a few Louhmans for eggs and meat, but go so attached to the hens that we where just unable to eat them. As a result we've now been vegetarian for almost 2 years

My fascination grew and now I have about 20 louhmans, 20 Indian runner ducks and have just purchased a whole bunch brahma, Orpington and silkie eggs. This weekend I became the proud dad of 3 Orpington chick's. Over the next 3 weeks hopefully my family will grow to about 40. 20 brahma, 10 Orpington and 10 silkies.
My favourite aspect is just having them. Not only do they give me fresh beautiful eggs everyday, but can spend hours watching them.
other hobbies include bird keeping, bee keeping, growing my own fresh fruit and veggies, koi keeping and spending a much time as I can in my beautiful country garden.
My hubby and I just celebrated our 6 wedding anniversary last week and nearly 30 years together. Since we're a gay couple, we don't have human kids, but have more than made up for that with 6 beautiful sausage dogs, and a mixed breed we rescued.
I work in retail as a store manager whilst my hubby Marc, specialises in Web ddevelopment, specifically e- commerce.
Everytime I've been stuck with a problem, back yard chickens has always had the solution so decided to join this amazing community and hope to learn from everyone's experience. I'm by no means a professional but the bug has take bitten hard and I'm totally hooked, hence my venture into now starting to incubate eggs.
am really looking forward to getting to know you all and learn and grow in this amazing hobby.
Thank you all.
