We finally bought a house with a little over 2 acres & I can get started on my mini farm. Lol My wife calls me Farmer Mike now. We plan on getting a flock of 10-15 layers & prob 2 goats. The goats will mainly be pets & I am contemplating on waiting until next year for the chicks. Any general advice or warnings etc.?

G'Day from down under Farmer Mike :frowWelcome and Congratulations on your new home! :clap

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Since you already have some good information to check out for chickens, I'm going to add a word about goats...good fencing will be your friend (they are such escape artists)!

Best wishes with all your plans!
