(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Very new! Just got my chicks on Monday and ducks and geese on Tuesday.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
15 chickens, 6 ducks, 3 geese
(3) What breeds do you have?
Chickens: 1 Salmon Faverolles, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 Partridge Rock, 1 New Hampshire Red, 2 Easter Egger, 2 Buff Orpington, 2 Buckeye, 1 Blue Splash Baran, 2 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, 1 Lakeshore Egger and 1 Austra white.
Ducks: 3 Saxony, 2 buff, 1 Khaki Campbell
Geese: All brown African
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Fresh Eggs <3, getting to brainstorm projects and plans, the research that goes into raising animals well, and of course having adorable chickens, ducks and geese running around.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Art, video games, reading
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I just bought a house with 4 acres at the beginning of this month. It's very exciting not having to rent and not have someone else lord over what animals we can have P: I've wanted my own chickens ever since I admired a cousin's set up when I was younger. We currently have 4 cats, a dog and 5 snakes in addition to the newly acquired poultry.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Lot's of googling. I decided to join so I could ask the questions I've been having a hard time finding the answer to.
