Well, I have to confess I don't have any chickens yet. I have a long road ahead of me. City ordinance against me as well.

My sister had chickens in Lake Helen, FL until they started disappearing over night.

After my vegetable garden was up and running I shrugged off the idea of having chickens. Didn't even know you could get eggs without a rooster. lol My 72 yr old father from Idaho didn't either. So, I decided to research about them. Wow, what an eye-opener. This site is the most knowledgeable and I am grateful to you guys already. I now know I want to start with Orpingtons, just have to be a little patient. I'm going to the Winter Park City Council meeting Monday to see how that goes for them. I guess I will have a little less heartbreak in seeing the options for coops before diving in head first, maybe even get my sister to try again.
