In the Brooder
Hello all!! My name is Greg Lee and I am starting my new hobby at raising chickens, which I know very little about. I live on a golf course, so roosters are out of the question. I'm not a morning person anyway, lol. I have looked through the net and found some really helpful things to guide me along, so far, but I believe that first hand knowledge and failures are a more informative way of learning.
So far I built my 4x3 1/2' brooder pen, without the lid yet, I'm not sure how I want to do that yet. I have also started on my coop, which will be on 1/2 of my bottom porch, measuring 11x7. I'm going to build it with the existing structure that I have and using pallets and a little plywood for the rest. I plan on filling the the pallets with straw for a little more insulation, plus I've heard that the chickens like to peck at it.
This project is a learning experience for me, so if you see anything that could be beneficial in my build, please let me know!!
