Hello and Did I pick friendly roosters?

Hello everyone, my first post here.

Just ordered from Ideal this morning and wanted to double check with you all on my rooster choices.

I have 3 old lady chickens right now, 1 RIR, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Americauna.

I ordered:

5 Speckled Sussex pullets and 1 roo
5 Dorking pullets
4 Salmon Faverolles pullets
5 Barred Plymouth Rock pullets and 1 roo
2 Buff Orpington pullets
2 Americauna pullets

Are Sussex and Barred Rock roosters nice? The barred rock I had as a kid was great, just don't know if he was normal for the breed. The last two roos I have had are now eaten for being mean, so I want to pick the right ones this time.
Would one of the other breeds be nicer?

LOVE my Barred Rock boys! Best breed in the world, IMO. My main flock rooster is a BR and I think that will always be the breed I choose to protect the girls. That said, there are individual differences, even among the same breed. Overall, a Barred Rock is an excellent choice. Ive only had an Ameraucana and my Blue Orpington, but the blue Orp would be way too large for most girls. I had some Speckled Sussex cockerels, but sold them before maturity.

My sister and I used to walk up to our BR rooster and pick him up and carry him all over and he never minded a bit. He was the best. I may name this one Mike II in his honor.

Sounds like you have a nice assortment of birds coming. Just an FYI, the WORST rooster I ever had awas a speckled sussex.

he was a horrid bird, and his chicks (the males) all had his personality. I soon got rid of that breed. LOL.

the worst rooster i ever had was a barred rock. that sucker was mean!

That just goes to show that there are individual differences in a generally calm breed, right?

My barred rocks are generally who I encourage to be with ny hens. My Sussex are behaved as well.

It often comes down to the bird rather than the breed.

Exactly speckledhen. Any breed of chicken that is said to be calm is bound to have a couple ferocious roosters!
Anyways, I now have 3 barred rock mixes who I love very much, the one especially! He lives in the barn because he doesnt like the other roosters, but he is very vocal and is a big baby!

The only MEAN rooster I have ever had were RIR. I hate them!

Currently I have Fred the Araucana, Harry the Ameraucana, 2 buff orp boys, well 3, and Pee Wee the blue/red Araucana roo. They aren't really friendly, but they don't attack me.
