hi. i am glad i found this great forum. i have not had chickens since i was a teenager in the 70s. at that time i had mostly bantams (golden seabrites). did some hatching with limited success. saw a news story on TV news recently about the growing backyard chicken movement in the area and got my interest rekindled.
from what i can tell plano, tx does not allow backyard chickens so all i can do at this time is dream. if any other posters here know of anyway i can assist in getting this changed, i'll be glad to help. Then i would have to deal with HOA (I hate HOAs).
I have always been interested in hatching and that is really what i would like to do to start but don't know what i could do with the chicks once they go bigger. also hatched a few quail in the old days. been searching the out lying areas for a house on an acre or so in areas where chickens are acceptable. i really want a rooster too - not just hens. roosters look so majesctic.
Hope to meet some chicken people in the area soon.
