Hi,
I am new to raising chickens and just wanted to say thank you for all the information and advice here. I have already learned a lot. We have two young kids and the first thing I did was research the different breeds to find ones that would be suitable for our climate and our family. We chose three Buff Orpingtons, three Partridge Plymouth Rocks and two Speckled Sussex. They are four weeks old now. We have them in an extra large dog crate downstairs while we are finishing the conversion of a storage building to a coop. Yesterday we took the chicks outside for the first time. They did well and seemed to like it. I just wanted to thank everyone again for all the support and friendly advice on BYC. I am incorporating what I have learned into my coop design. My husband who is building it calls it Chick Manor... Can't wait to introduce the chicks to their new home soon. Here are some pictures from yesterday (I know, I think my son's favorite is a cockerel...).



 
Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. I'm glad we were able to help. Your son is certainly handsome. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children.
