Hi Everyone.
I live in Southern California.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had 3 hens and a duck when I was in elementary school, then later when my youngest daughter was in Kindergarten (class hatched chicks) 15 years ago, and now I orders some chicks to arrive the first week of April 2021.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Five chicks will arrive the first week of April '21
(3) What breeds do you have?
I ordered one of each: Silver Cuckoo Maran, Easter Egger, Austra White, Golden Laced Wyandotte, and a Silver Laced Wyandotte. I wanted a variety of egg colors. LOL
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
First of all, I love animals, chickens are fairly easy to maintain, and the benefit of eggs is just a plus.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy reading, playing with my small dog, and watching movies.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I have 3 grown children (2 still in college), a 14 lb. mixed breed dog, and I work in a hospital 3 days a week.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC on google when I was researching chicken breeds and supplies to order. There was good advice, easy to find answers, and straight to the point common sense.
