My name is Kelly and I am from Central Valley (Fresno) CA. I first want to say thank you for the ton of great information this site provides. After lots of research prior to the new experience of raising chickens, we decided they would be a great addition to our "Urban Homestead".
We (Hubby and I) picked out 3 (3 day old) chicks, who are now almost 4 weeks old. Lucy is a Barred Rock, Penny is an Easter Egger and Lilly is a RI Red. They are at the stage where they look miserable between the fluff and the new feathers but they are adorable and each have their own distinct personality.
With no carpentry skills, we were able to design and build their coop and run after looking at all the great ones on this site. They moved into their new home this weekend and are loving the additional room.
Besides the Girls, as we call them, we also have a canary, cat and 4 rescue dogs (Basset, Mini Poodle and 2 mini mutts).
I have been soaking up so much of the information from BYC for the last month that I though I better get around to introducing myself and saying that you. Well, to be honest, I was also on here because I thought Lilly was having a seizure, but as it turns out, she was just enjoying a bath! ~Kelly
