(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
my first year raising chickens

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
i currently have 5 laying hens, 6 pullets, and 1 cockerel

(3) What breeds do you have?

i have 5 new hampshire reds that just started laying about a month ago, have 3 barred rocks ( 2 pullets and 1 cockerel) whom I'm about to start integrating to flock. and i have 4 cochin pullets in the brooder ( to raise my future chicks)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
i found about about B.Y.C. by doing web searches on chickens while i was preparing myself to raise my first flock. the most reliable and helpful answers i found always came from here so a year later i decided to join this wonderfully helpful community

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
my hobbies are mostly centered around learning new ways to be self efficient. i like to learn woodworking gardening ect. other then that some good vibe jams and a ice cold highlife
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
im a disabled vet, recently married, with my first child on the way. in our home ( farm as we refer to it as lol) we have a bunch of fish a cat 2 dogs, then the chickens XD plans on many more animals goats ducks dairy cow and pigs.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :Di answered this in the fourth question lol

I haven't been around long but I've learnd alot from folks all over the map right here with BYC. :thumbsup
Congratulations on your marriage and Thank You for your service.
It sounds like you folks have alot going on and it's all good!
I'm new around here also, in August I was loosing one of my six hens from sour crop. BYC helped me nurse her back around, it took some time but she pulled through and I'm forever thankful. I wish you luck and all your critters as well!!

thanks brady , I'm glad to hear you were able to get some sound advice and save a hen :) i have spent a lot of time looking at the emergency posts as I'm new to chickens and wanted to see common things to look out for a pre educate myself a bit on common health issues so i don't panic the the time comes.
