Hello All!
My name is Cynthia and my sweet husband (user Slejdad) and I have decided to raise chickens on our work-in-progress homestead.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I grew up on a commercial breeder egg farm - gathered 500k-750k eggs per day.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
34
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Buff Orpingtons, Barred Rock, Australorp, Brown Leghorn, Rhode Island Red, Light and Dark Bramhas, Belgian Bearded d'Uccle Bantam, Gold and Silver Sebright Bantams, and 14 Silkies.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I just love watching them and making them pets. Fresh eggs, too and hoping to hatch some eggs at some point.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Motorcycle riding.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a grateful Christian married to my best friend. A mother of five with one granddaughter. I have a less than 3 pound yorkie (Rascal) and an outside kitty (Louise) - unfortunately Thelma is no longer with us. I have worked for the same company for 25 years and for the past almost 6 years have worked remotely from home.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
