I’m new around here!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens
I’ve had a chicken years ago which was handed down to me by my sister that moved out of state.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 5 chickens
(3) What breeds do you have?
The breeds are a mystery but I’d assume maybe a mix of brown leghorns, Easter eggers and ameracaunas.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Definitely the free eggs but being able to give them food scraps is a bonus and less waste.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Working on my own car, snowboarding, hiking, comedy clubs, foodie tours, traveling
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Grew up in the city but have had a variety of other pets such as birds, fish, dogs, chinchillas, hamsters, Guinea pigs, rabbits.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I’ve lurked around here recently because I was given 5 baby chicks that my brother’s family had incubated from eggs purchased from the farmers market. We have no idea the breed nor the gender and they’re now 4 weeks old, I still have them in the in door brooder but will begin working on building the outdoor coop very soon. I’d like to figure out the breed and gender of these chicks since it’s illegal to keep roosters in my city.
