(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, we are fairly new to chickens. In my daughters class a little over a year ago, they hatched 24 chicks and were able to take home as many as their parents would let them. We got 6 last year, and another 4 this year. We incubated 7 eggs from our hens recently and three hatched, but only one survived.

we have 10

Blue Orpington, Easter Egger, Black Bantam Cochin rooster, Silkie mix, Millefleur d'Uccle Bantam, frizzle cochin bantam, the others we aren't sure about yet.

We have 3 kids: 10, 8, and 4. We have 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. We love our chickens!
