Hi My Name is Les.
My wife and I recently made the move to a hobby farm. When we moved here the previous owners left us there 3 chickens I think they are the Star variety. After living here for a few months now and enjoying the birds, we decided to get them a proper coop and get a few younger birds. We found a coop/run on Craigslist locally and have it set up in the yard. We bought a bantam Cochin from another local chicken lover. (she is the sweetest bird in the flock). And then got 3 more young birds from a garage sale last weekend; two speckled Sussex and a barred rock. They are all getting along great, we had a three egg day yesterday! We let them free range throughout the yard from noon until dusk.
I've been referencing this site since we've moved here and it's been a wealth of information!
Thank you Backyard Chickens!
Les
