Hi,
Sorry for posting this as I am only introducing myself and my lovely hens but I need a little help.
My name is Mue and I have been keeping ex batt hens for around 4 years now. Through no fault of there own my new two hens have come to me in need of a home. One white and one very brown.
I need some help with these two new hens which have just settled and I can hold them. They have come to me with some things in their feathers. The white hen has it in her feathers. It is long and white. I have not got a clue what it is. But what I have done is the following:
This morning after finding it I:
1. Burned the bedding in their coop (even though I did put lots of SMITE powder in the bedding and cracks of the coop before they came two days ago).
2.Squirt SMITE into every crevice again. Let the dust settle, put the bedding in (nedz bedz). More SMITE on top and gently rake it over.
3.Hold each hen as I carefully go under the feathers and put SMITE powder all over the hen apart from the face and vent area (could not find any there).
I think they have been wormed. MY four hens I have were only wormed a month ago. The new hens and my hens are not mixing yet.
Any idea what they have or the treatment I have to give them.
Thank you
Mue
