Hello everyone. My name is Melissa and I just got my backyard chickens. I'm not new to chicken care. My family raised chickens when I was younger. Currently I have three Barnevelders. I'm excited for my little chicks to lay us some eggs when they get older. Outside of chickens I enjoy reading and gardening. My family consists on my wife and her grandmother who moved in when after her grandfather passed. We have three little dogs and are slightly concerned how they will behave with the chickens.

Hi Melissa and :welcome. We are glad you joined us!
You will surely enjoy your chicken's eggs when they start laying, backyard chicken eggs are much better than those from the stores! Regarding the dogs, it depends: Some dogs protect "their" chickens, some other dogs would like to eat them, others ignore'em. You need to see what type your dog is and adjust the environment accordingly. Good luck and have fun!
