Hello Everyone

I'm Kandyce, I'm currently a college student (living at home) that lives in Edinburg,Tx (2 hrs south of Corpus Christi). My dad & I came home three weeks ago with 9 Rhode Island Reds (6 are mine & 3 are my dads) (mom was not very happy with us lol). I'm a breeder of Boer and Nigerian Dwarf goats so raising chickens will be an interesting journey for me. My mom has 20 of her own chickens (mixed breed-small eggs) but I wanted my own little group of chicks to call my own (aka the McNuggets). I joined because I have a baby with a weird looking growth on her beak. I hope it isn't fowl pox.

If it troubles you, you can post a photo and details on the chick at "emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread. We would also comment on a photo if you put one up.

That is strange. If it isn't fowl pox (and it could be) it is likely an injury. Is it hard or soft to the touch? I am no expert, so this is totally just a suggest, but when my cats get injuries they always feel better when their wounds break open and the pus comes out. If it is an infection, then lancing it and washing it out may help.

I thought it was a wart. It looks hard. I didn't touch it but tomorrow I'll grab her. I do have iodine I'll clean it tomorrow. She didn't look like it was bothering her but none of the other had it.
