Hello BY chicken community!

We are first time chicken owners currently raising a flock of 15 (nearly 3 week old) baby chicks. Ordered from Murray McMurray hatchery: 4 - salmon faverolles, 5 - ameraucanas, and 5 whiting true greens, all (keep your fingers crossed with us) females + 1 surprise chick.

We live in an urban area and our city only allows us 4 hens, so once the babes are a couple weeks older the rest will be headed to their forever homes.

We are looking forward to raising these babies up, giving them a good life and enjoying their colorful eggs.

Excited to be a part of this community and for all of the experiences, insights, and advice of everyone here.

Will include some photos when we can get them to stand still long enough for a good shot. Maybe you all can help identify what breed our surprise chick could be.

I think this is likely our surprise chick. Any thoughts on the breed? From my limited knowledge and research I am thinking this is some type of sex-link male based on the white spot on it's head. Could it be a cream legbar?

Welcome to BYC! :frow Lovely birds you got there!

For the surprise chick, you can post in What Breed Or Gender is This? forum- lots of people there can help you with identifying the breed and gender. (IMO, the chick looks like a female sex link of some kind, due to the undeveloped comb and rounded feathers but for their age, it might be too early to guess the gender)

Enjoy your time here!

Thanks! Posted there too. A female would be lucky!
