I’m a newbie. I was gifted 6 baby black austrolorp chicks 3 weeks ago. I have never raised any chickens before. I’m also a mama of 3 yrs old boy who is always super busy/ full of energy. I love gardening and cooking. I really need your helps. I’m shopping for a coop for my chicks to get out in about 10 weeks, I think? They are now separated in 2 bins and in my breakfast area in the kitchen since they are getting bigger and starting to pecking on each other. I need your advices for where should I go shop for a coop? Size of the coop? Size of the run? I have no ideas how big they would be.. What the reasonable price for a coop for 6 hens? I live in Amherst, OH and my city has a restriction for raising them. And my husband is definitely not a handy man who can help me building a coop. We don’t have tools for me to figure that out myself either.😔

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
They will require 4 sq ft per bird in the coop and a minimum of 72 sq ft total in the run, more is better.
Do you have an old shed you can use for a coop?
