Greetings.

I am new to all things chicken, but have jumped in with both feet. We recently purchased chicks from a couple different local suppliers with the goal of raising hens for eggs. We currently have 11 birds but are only looking at keeping 4 - 6. We have a variety of breeds (read mutts) that all came from the straight run bin.

We live in the city on a small lot, but have been able to convince our neighbors that this is a good idea

I found a lot of information about coops on this site that helped greatly in the construction of my own. I will post some pictures as soon as I hit my 10 posts.

I have to say, I found the site while searching for breed information and was excited to find pictures of the chicks. I thought I was well on my way to being able to determine the breeds, but I think I am more unsure now than I was before I started looking. Who knew that 30 different types would have the chipmunk markings.
