How many chickens are you planning on starting with?

Right now, the plan is 5 or 6 to start. Since this is the first time I've taken care of Chickens on my own, I want to make sure we're not overwhelmed. The coop and run I plan to build should leave room to double that number comfortably based on what I've read on this site. Chicken tunnels and free ranging are also in the three-year plan.
