This is my first time raising chickens. I have four pullets who are 12 weeks old and live outside in their Eglu coop and run. I had six, but two were done in by either a coyote or a bobcat when they were running around my fenced, but uncovered patio and my back was turned for a few minutes. I suspect the cat because I've caught him circling the run, looking for a way in (there isn't one.) Well, that was heartbreaking - I lost two beautiful light Brahmas. THAT won't happen again; they stay in the protected run now. I have three chicks inside (half of the six I ordered from the hatchery were either DOA or died within 72 hours) that are less than two weeks old - one is lame and I'm trying to help her. I've been hobbling the legs and splinting the feet, but not sure they will come around. She's otherwise a determined little chickie, eating, drinking, chirping happily (except when I'm messing with her) and growing, though not as fast as the other two who seem protective of her. I've been lurking on the forums for a while and have learned a lot! Thanks everyone for posting your experiences.
