First time attempting to hatch chicks. Instead of using mail order. Just wanted to join incAse i needed some input. So far I'm 7 days along, and a 1/3 of 24 eggs have made it so far at a constant temperature of 99.4-99.7 degrees and a 50-55% humidity, with brief cooling periods and egg rotation. It was a kind of hit and miss on which eggs I had to choose from. Since we fill quotas for a local restaurant. I had to pick and choose and hope I got lucky. We have 80 hens in the pasture and only 2 roosters. Busy birds. I don't think 1/3 of them making it this far from random picking was too bad and it being a first time. Fingers crossed! Bad to count your chickens before they hatch

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us and good luck with your hatch. You may want to post any questions that you may have on the hatch-a-long or incubating and hatching chicks forums.

Best wishes
