I'm Jackie and I'm excited to be here. I've done my fair share of lurking but I decided today to officially join you all. :frow So I guess I'll answer these nice questions so you can get to know me a bit!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I've had my small flock since July 2016. I feel like I'm starting to "get it" now, but there is still so much to learn!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Started with 3 and moved up to 6 hens. 5 weeks ago I brought home some chicks from TSC because of chicken math lol So we are up to a dozen for the moment. We shall see how many pullets we end up with...

(3) What breeds do you have? Let's see, I have a barred rock, a Jersey giant, a black star, 2 red sex-links (I think), 2 ISA brown chicks, 4 EEs (I think!), and a speckled sussex who is the loudest bird in the bunch (and also the top of the pecking order)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Not sure, probably Google!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I like making crafts, sewing here and there. I love to read.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have a hubby and a son, I WFH which I feel very lucky to do. My son is in K and he loves the chickens, though he's had some tough lessons over the past year. I wanted chickens to help teach him about where food comes from. I also have 4 cats as pets, a few are getting up there in age. I am addicted to coffee.

G’Day from down under Jackie :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Welcome to Backyardchickens.com aka BYC! :frow
