Greetings. I'm a new member with 7 buff orfingtons, 3 black aconas, 3 americaunas and 5 Peking ducks. I have a 7 x 9 stainless steel and aluminum coop with 2 stories. Chickens In the top, ducks in the bottom. They share a 70 x 50 covered aviary with a kiddie pool. The ducks are so messy that I'm thinking about building then their own coop. Is it better to have them seperate or together?

Ducks are so messy and wet, it is often better to have them separated from the chickens. Chickens don't like to be wet, and they are probably in each other's feed, which may not be right feed.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! You might like to check out the duck forum https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks X2, it is usually easiest to keep the ducks and chickens separate because the ducks are sooo messy with water. You also need to be careful with drakes around chicken hens.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. X2 on drumstick diva and Kelsie2290; I would definitely keep the chickens and ducks separated. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
