In the Brooder
I have been lurking for a couple of months, so I finally registered a few weeks ago and figured it was finally time to post up an introduction, so here goes!
My name is Johnathan, but John is just fine. I reside in Lubbock, Tx with my fiance who I have been in a relationship with for almost 4 years, now. My parents started raising their 3rd set of chickens about a year ago and I have been fighting the urge to purchase my own, but when Tractor Supply's weekly ad hit my counter top with a huge "LAST DAYS OF CHICK WEEK," I decided it was time to try this out.. so we purchased 6 GSL hens back in April. They are currently ~9 weeks old and seem happy to me!
I built the chicken coop myself, and used only salvaged wood from alley ways and friends' old projects. The only thing I had to purchase was a roll of chicken wire, the roofing, and hardware. Other than that, it still needs paint and some trim work, but it's pretty water tight and predator proof (at least for city chickens!). I also have to dogs that have access to the back yard all day and respond very quickly to the chickens getting loud.
And that would be the fiance playing with the chickens.
Thanks for the add to the forum, I'm glad to be part of such a massive community!
