Hi to you all.

Were do I start?

Well, we live in Namibia, Africa on a smallholding of approximatly 90ha. We had a couple of chickens (seems you call them mutts

as they are from no specific breed). Since they did lay far more than we can consume ourselves we started off selling free range eggs for the fun of it. Now however the demand is far higher and we are getting new mutts

in.

As said, we are increasing the flock and are trying to hatch our own chicks. We have a small Incubator taking 90 eggs, but this process has not been very successful unfortunately. At the moment we have some hens breeding and will start up the incubator in a couple of weeks, as we are going on holiday.

Currently we have about 50 chickens and 40 chicks. As things look at the moment we want to expand to around 100 hens at first, but the medium term goal is around 300.

Sounds like you'll be pretty busy soon when those chicks grow up.

There is a lot of chat on this forum about predators. I guess you have to deal with predators in Namibia that most of us never even considered!! Best of luck to you and chickens!
