I have been a lurker on BYC for a few years now but thought today was the day to join. 
Our family has had chickens for 4 of the last 6 years. We lost all of them due to a neighbors nasty dogs. I think over the years we've had upwards of 200 birds. We recently relocated to a nice quiet place with few neighbors and no dogs. We're trying our luck yet again.
We started today with only 6 chicks (purchased as Buffs but now that they are feathering out they are Red Stars) and now ending the day with 12 (chicken math every.single.time.). We now have Red Stars, Barred Rock, White Rock and a couple unknowns. We'll see what they turn out to be.
I am a stay at home mom to 4 kids. We live in the semi country and dream of living in the full on country. I would love to be 10-20 miles from the nearest town. We currently only have chickens but my goal is to have a couple Nubian Goats before summer starts.
Glad to be here and can't wait to learn more than I already have from you guys.
