Hi all
We started with our first 18 chickens in April and we are so hooked we are already up to a flock of 51 if you include the broilers!
Great site for learning and sharing. look forward to reading and maybe chatting in the future.

51 birds, you're not kidding when you say you're hooked LOL So pleased that you've joined and I'm looking forward to hearing more about your flock. What breeds do you have?

Yes, you have definitely come to the right place for all the fun and learning!

Chickens are so addicting, it is hard to know when to stop. LOL I guess once you have tried every breed!

Welcome to our flock!

Hi, thank you for the welcome!
I'm still looking them up on the net! Over here you tend to buy 'chickens' although we started with 10 ex-battery (hybrid) types all looking very sorry for themselves and eight pullets of various descriptions. I think we have an Araucana , possibly a Plymouth, maybe a couple of leghorns, there could even be a bit of Amrock in there :)
Then we added a few 'Lilliput's not sure if that's a breed, but they are small and lay nice small white eggs' , then more pullets all of which are brown but I don't believe them to be hybrids. A couple of silkies were donated last week, ten broilers about 2 weeks ago along with five random cockerels for the pot and then one of our old hens sat on a batch of Liliput eggs and four chicks joined the flock. All great fun and we are getting about a dozen eggs a day. We mix our own feed from our own crops as we are trying to be self sufficient, with the emphasis on trying! I bog about lots of things including the chickens www.winkos.wordpress.com

Converted an old stable to get started, but already making plans for a new home for them all next year :)

Lots to read
