I've just started getting into chickens recently and learning about them online as well as from my mother who raised chickens as a child. I'm located in SW missouri and looking forward to my chicken adventures!

Today, I bought 2 10wk pullets, a roo of the same age, and a laying hen. All of them are Black Australorps. I hope this isn't too much to handle for a newbie, but luckily my mother knows a thing or two.

I took me forever to get over my fear of chickens, but here I am! This site seems to have a ton of great information, I'm especially interested in training my lab to stay away from my chickens...He seems a bit too interested in them.

Our lab was introduced to ours as chicks, and they lived in the house initially, so it was clear they were part of the pack. This year's chicks spend a lot of time sleeping on him, because he's a soft, furry, warm bed.
