I have been all through BYC looking up info for the past few months. So much great stuff here it is adicting! I adopted a mixed flock from a friend who was moving. Have Dark Cornish, White and Partridge Cochin, Barnvelder, Appenzeller Spitzhauben (my favorite), Golden Lakenvelder and a Black Sexlink. I have experimented with fermented feed and the girls were loving it when I was using whole and cracked grains and split peas. The started molting so I bought pelleted feather fixer to help. When I fermented this stuff it gave off an odor like baby vomit and they turned up their beaks at it. I stopped fermenting for now. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

I've never tried the Feather Fixer but if it smells that bad, it might taste bad too. Will they eat it if you don't ferment it? If they will, I'd skip the fermenting the FF.

I have never fermented feed so I am not sure if their reaction is normal or not. Sorry!

I don't know anything about fermented food but, I've have noticed there is a thread about it If you put that in the search box, it should pop up.
