Hello one and all!

I'm a longer time chicken owner, having raised them on the farm growing up and then starting my own flock a number of years ago. However I usually just use the approach of buying neat kinds of heritage breeds and then every year hatching a few which are just mutts. Nothing exceptional by any means.

But this year I restocked my Cochins (Because I just love those poof balls!) as well as getting a couple of silkies and a sizzle roo. I was slightly bitten by the show bug when I showed my Sizzle last month. He won best "fun" chicken which was about the best he could do as a non recognized breed LOL Just this week I also had a few broodies hatch out some pure Cochin babies. I've decided to try and manage the chickens a bit better so I get specific breeds instead of the mixes.

I've always known about BYC but after doing some research on the Sizzles here is when I really decided to join. I'm not thinking of doing any intensive breeding of them, just not set up for that, but since they are silkies, they do like to sit! This fella hatched out this spring and he's looking like quite a good example of a Sizzle! He has many more silkie traits than his father, for sure!

I realize I could hatch another 50 chicks and not get one with such uniform, desired, sizzle qualities. It must be a joke of nature to provide them all in my first chick so that I just... want... to... keep... doing... it... :lau
