Hi,
I started reading this forum this past spring when I had planned on getting some chickens. However, plans went awry and we didn't get them.
So, I have been away from here for a while, but I plan to get chickens this coming spring for sure.
It seemes like a good idea to use the remaining fall and the winter to read and research and be gathering what I will need. That way I will be prepared when I do get the babies.
Most likely I will just get four or five chickens. I eat lots of eggs, so when they start to lay it will be a treat.
I am married to a great dh and we have a 9 yo old dd whom I homeschool. She will be helping me to plan for the chicks as well as helping to care for them. She is a member of 4H but has no interest in doing a chicken project. We just want to enjoy them and reap the benefits of fresh eggs.
I look forward to learning more and am counting down until I can order my chicks.
