Hi
we are new chook owners as of late last year and have a smallbantam flock of 10 to adhere to council limits in suburban backyards, being virtually inner city dwellers.
And of course we have named them all! how could one not?
Debbie Reynolds is our chirpy and chipper little Light Sussex-Pekin X always running and digging - Happy Camper could be her nickname.
Then we have Shelley Winters - our slightly cranky redgold Wyandotte-Pekin cross who is always going clucky so we had her hatch 3 Araucana eggs (not the sort you have in the US ours seem to be a UK version but they do lay blue green eggs!) Sadly two of the chicks were roos and had to go to a farm and the third was eaten by a dog or an urban fox (not sure which) when under care at a friend's place.
Then we have two Japanese Bantams - Diana Ross and Bette Midler.(won't say why - am unsure of libel laws in relation to chooks named after famous people!
)
Two Australorps - one blue (Happy - in my avatar) and Little Vegemite - a big black who turned out not to be a bantam but not a fullsized 4.5 kg Lorp either!
One Welsummer - Queen Beatrix.
and the three new peeps we bought as day olds just 11 days ago no names yet just nicknames until their personalities are revealed! - so one Silver laced Polish (nicknamed Pecky Fecker as she is prone to pecking at the other gals) a white crested black Polish - (nick named Pom Pom because of her little round white pom pom head where the crest is forming) who just eats constantly and Ping Pong our little Birchen Jap who bounces around all the time and managed to bound right out of the box on Wednesday.
Love 'em all to bits! Can't imagine how we lived without them ...!
