I am new at this. Some people in my neighborhood have been successful, so I wanted to try it after eating fresh free range eggs. I started with 2 Rhode Island chicks, but both dies. I replace the first one that died with another RIR from a different place. She is almost 2 weeks and seems okay (but one of the others lived to 2 weeks and died). I got 2 Black Sexlinks, 3 weeks old (maybe more like 4 weeks) because the dying peeps made me sad. They seem strong, but are missing feathers on their backs and are a bit scaly, but I think it was because they were in a cage with a bunch of others (I hope). I am excited about BYC. I need all the help I can get. By the way, when can I put my sweet PIR 1 1/2 week old peep in with the 3-4 week old Blacks???

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

What you might need to do is put one of the quiter chicks in with your lone one, and once they have become used to each other mix them all together. You do need to watch carefully when you mix chicks of different ages so that no one gets picked on, as they can do serious damage or even kill a smaller chick if they are not socialized well.
