Hello From Bucks County, Pa.

I have 12 Parrots & am now interested in chickens. Dont have a clue where to start so im hoping that you could help me. Im interested in Silkies or Easter Egg (?) chicks. Is that a good choice ? It looks like you need to by a minimum of 15 - 25. Where can you get 2 to 4 ? Thank you all for your help.

Head over to the Pennsylvania Unite thread under social>where am I, where are you?. Lots of great PA people there and quite a few near you. They'll be happy to help guide you through your chicken journey. I'm sure someone there will have something you are looking for. They are a bunch of enablers.

Are you looking for egg layers, meat birds, pets, lawn decorations? There are breed for all of that. Silkies are generally docile and very popular. However they cannot be accurately sexed before 4-5 mos. and sometimes not till they crow or lay. They aren't they best layers but, many of them turn out to be very good broody hens. Which means they love to sit and hatch eggs and raise the chicks.
