Hello, I am from California and currently have a flock of 19 chickens. I have a pair of Sizzles, a few Silkies, 4 Faverolles, 3 leghorns, and some bantams. I have had other breeds in the past, but this is my current flock. I also have performing and show pigeons, doves, a couple of dogs, and a cat.

My favorites of my chickens are definitely my Silkies. They are so sweet and soft, and very much spoiled. I used to have a lot more Silkies, as they were my main breed, but for the past 2 years I have been having a lot of problems with them and lost a lot of them. My other breeds are doing just fine, so I'm hoping to get some help on my Silkies.

Moving on, I have been showing my pigeons for years and hope to start showing some of my chickens soon. I have been to some chicken shows, and it would make my day to see some of my girls and roos at a show. As for my other hobbies, I love to photograph my birds and other pets, as well as wildlife.

Hi N F C, my family raises 4 types of performing pigeons. We have Racing Homers, who are trained to fly long distances and compete in races where the birds who have the fastest flight speed win prizes. We also have rollers, they fly up in the air and do spins while flying. Then we have tumblers, kinda similar to rollers but they fly up much higher and than dive downwards. They pull out of their dive about telephone height and go back up and do it all over again. And finally we have Thief Pouters, they fly around and attract birds to come down. We use them to bring in our other performers.

Thanks rjohns39.

I hope to get some photos ready later to share. :)

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us all here! Silkies sure are a nice breed. My friend had them for her children and they were super friendly. Sorry to hear you have had trouble and lost some of yours.

Good luck for the futre and enjoy your time here on BYC :frow
