Hi all! My daughter and I started our journey with 4 little fluffbutts in august of last year. We have a buff and lavender Orpington a two Wyandottes ( a red laced and a black/white one).
I heard some talk about tractor supply food possibly having so many fillers in it that some folks noticed their hens stopped laying. Should I avoid tractor supply layer feed?

Welcome. I don't know if you should avoid the feed or not. I make my own food and my chickens eat a lot of food I make for them like meat, cheese, fruit, and vegetables; but that is not because I think there is a problem with any of the feeds - it just makes me feel better knowing what they are eating. I think one needs to read all of the information and make their own decision. The most important part to me is respecting people and their right to have their own opinion.

Thanks for joining us! Don't buy in to the rumors about a problem with feed. As long as a commercially prepared feed is nutritionally sound, fresh and is suitable for the age of your flock, there won't be a problem. I think some of those rumors got started when people noticed their birds not laying as much (or at all) in the winter...that's natural, laying will be affected by the hours of day light (among other things like their health and their living conditions).
