I have 4 chickens. Made my coop with my daughter and a dog house plan. Was pretty easy and Home Depot made the cuts for me. Actually, I shouldn't say it was easy .. but, it wasn't too complicated :0

Your budget sounds like you ought to be able to find something nice for two chickens! It's more when you get up into large numbers of chickens that things get a little more pressing and hard to figure out. Good luck!
